The Vortex VM21 is the Vanu Sovereignty's long ranged anti-vehicle MAX weapon. It uses a charge mechanic nearly identical to that of the Lancer VS22, but does slightly less damage. Like other MAX anti-vehicle weapons, it is best suited to ambush or sniping tactics, and is most effective en masse.

At first one might think shooting at level 1 charge is the most economic use of ammunition - the Vortex does 167 damage per round at charge level 1, 125/round at level 2, and 100/round at level 3. While this is true against infantry, vehicles (including MAXes and base turrets) have damage resistance modifiers that affect the final damage. A higher charge level dramatically decreases resistance for more total damage.

A positive resistance means that damage is decreased, and a negative resistance means damage is increased. For more information, see Vehicle armor and damage resistance.

Ribbons and MedalsEdit

It is possible to get both Ribbons and Medals for using the Vortex VM21. Each Ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with the Vortex VM21. Medals relate to how many overall kills you have with the Vortex VM21.

      • Max damage increased from 217 to 250
      • Minimum damage increased from 130 to 150
    • Charge level 3
      • Max damage increased from 282 to 300
      • Minimum damage increased from 169 to 200
  • April 9th, 2015 Update
    • Changed the impact FX for the Lancer and Vortex to something that does not contain an explosion since the weapons do not inflict blast damage.
