The NS-44 Commissioner is a pistol produced by Nanite Systems, available to all factions. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.

The Nanite Systems - 44 Commissioner is Nanite Systems' premier revolver. Designed to serve as the ultimate finisher, the Commissioner is slow to fire and slow to reload, but hits harder than even most shotguns with the capability of dealing up to 900 damage on a headshot, although the pistol demands amongst the highest skill of any weapon to draw out its full potential.

Compared to its brother, the NS-357 Underboss, the Commissioner fires considerably slower (170 RPM as opposed to 220 RPM) and takes half a second longer to reload but deals notably more damage per shot, dealing up to 450 damage (900 on a headshot), whereas the Underboss deals 375 damage (750/headshot).

Trivia

• The long reload penalty previously occurred if three or more shots were fired, and the animation for opening both sides of the cylinder was needed. It has since been patched so the reload delay only happens if the gun is fully emptied, even if the animation for both sides of the revolver opening plays.

• The NS-44 Commissioner is one of the few weapons which compels the use of an Auxiliary Shield, as with 950 HP an Infiltrator cannot be killed with a single head shot, and one shot to the body only removes the Infiltrator's easily renewable Shield. The Carapace implant also increases an Infiltrator's health, but necessitates the use of either the Regeneration implant or a medical or restoration kit if the infiltrator wishes to recover their own lost health.
