The Recon Detection Device is a tool available to the Infiltrator. It is auto granted at rank 1, and upgraded using Certification Points.
The Recon Detection Device fires recon darts which stick to any surface they hit and pulse periodically to detect enemies within the listed range, between 25 and 50 meters based on the rank of the device. Each pulse has a period of 3.25 seconds, reduced by up to 1.25 seconds based on the rank of the device down to a period of 2 seconds.
Recon darts last for the listed duration, between 20 and 45 seconds based on the rank of the device. A single infiltrator can deploy up to six darts at one time, with the oldest being removed if more than six are placed at any given moment. These darts are physical objects in the world, emitting a noticable electronic sound and glowing bright yellow. They can be destroyed through gunfire, although award no experience for their destruction.

- Speculative fix for Recon Darts occasionally not sticking to surfaces.
June 17, 2020 Update (Enter: Colossus)
- Maximum active darts from 20 to 6
- Firing while aiming down sights no longer reveals your minimap location.
- Recon Darts should no longer lift vehicles into the air when placed in their springs.
- Fixed an issue that could cause Motion Spotters and Recon Detect Devices to act erratically.
- Updated description for the RD-GG to reflect its gold-platedness and proper durations at each rank.
- Detection versus infantry is no longer contingent on player speed
- Now detects infantry targets that are not crouching, standing, or crouch-walking.
- Recon Detection Device will now appear/function again.
Performance Update Number 1 (2013-11-12)
- The Infiltrator's recon dart will now send found enemies to the minimap of all allies in a 150m radius. Previously this tool had a range of 50 meters
- Fixed an issue where two projectiles would sometimes be visible when firing the Recon Detection Device when only one was fired.
- The Recon Detect Device is no longer listed as an IFF Device.
- Infiltrator recon tool sends mini-map info to all faction members and not just the squad.
