Quartz Ridge Camp is an Outpost on western Indar. It is connected to 6 territories, including Hvar Tech Plant and West Highlands Checkpoint. The Base serves as an important strategic point guarding the only road between the northern desert and the Savannah region to the south. As a result of its strategic importance and its proximity to the Hvar Tech Plant, the base (and the desert between it and the Indar Excavation Site) are often home to heavy fighting between the forces of the Northern Warpgate and those of the South-Eastern.
The base itself is located within a small pass which is one of the only routes between the lowland northern desert and the higher altitude southern savannah. The steep-sided canyon means that the base is somewhat vulnerable to infantry attack from the walls of the pass, as well as vehicle attack from the gates. Vehicle shields on the gates mean that the base must be conquered before any advance can continue.
Valley of Hell Edit
Between Quartz Ridge Camp and Indar Excavation Site lies an inhospitable battlefield, so meticulously and painstakingly designed, which is the daily host of dozens of some of the largest battles you'll ever see in Planetside. When two equally-populated sides, one from QRC and the other from IES, clash in this middle area, a deeper trenchlock than the Western Front of the First World War occurs, with virtually no ability to push in either direction until enough people on one side give up, or one of the sides pulls off a brilliant blitzkrieg/MAX crash/whatever.
Needless to say, these battles are amazing farming opportunities, especially for skilled snipers. Be careful, hide behind any cover you can find, and duck at least once every two seconds.
Whether you are attacking or defending, the best way to secure the base is to set up snipers on the bluffs and have them guard the point. If you decide to do this, then you should use a silencer because this is always one of the hottest areas. Always guard the cliffs! This is very crucial for owning the camp because if you don't own the cliffs then the enemy will definitely take advantage of it and it will surely ruin any attempt to own the camp. This is about the worst place for vehicles because it is basically a narrow valley in the side of the mountain. Heavy Assaults tend to camp up on the hills and take out vehicles from a safe distance. If you are inside the camp, you should be watchful of snipers that are set up on the cliffs. Stay close to a stationary object and keep your back to a wall if possible.
