The Phalanx turrets are fixed base defenses that can be manned by defenders to augment their firepower. There are three varieties: Spear (anti-vehicle), Aspis (anti-air) and Xiphos (anti-infantry). Like the MANA turret , Phalanx turrets can overheat, requiring management of fire. The turrets are by default only accessible to the faction that owns the base, but they can be hacked by Infiltrators to allow their own faction to access them. Having been destroyed, Phalanx turrets must be rebuilt by an Engineer before they can be used again.
As of October 29, 2015 Update, capturing an Amp Station or in close proximity to one that belongs to your empire grants a reduction of turret overheating by 500%. Also, turrets at Amp Stations will repair automatically over time, meaning that a full-damaged turret can be restored to full health in just 3 minutes.
The Xiphos is the anti-infantry Phalanx variant. Its heavy machine guns are also capable of doing some damage to vehicles. This Phalanx turret is the hardest to stumble upon in the continents of Auraxis.
