The L100 Python AP is the specialized Anti-Vehicle version of the L100 Python series of turrets for the Nanite Systems Lightning tank. The Armor Penetrating (AP) shells that it fires have a smaller blast radius than the HEAT version of the turret, requiring almost direct hits to damage infantry. Direct hits instantly kill non-max infantry.
The AP turret does the most damage to armor of the L100 Python turret range. In addition, since the GU08 patch the L100 Python AP turret has an armor mitigation bonus designed to improve it's Anti-Vehicle performance versus the HEAT variant. Currently this armor mitigation bonus only applies to shots hitting MBTs or Lightnings.
It has the same reload speed as the L100 Python HEAT and approximately 10% faster reload speed than the L100 Python HE. All L100 Python turrets share a much flatter shell trajectory than compared to the default C75 Viper turret.

Effectiveness versus Armor
The following table indicates the number of direct hits required from an L100 Python AP turret to destroy a stock version of an appropriate vehicle from full health. The number of shells required to set a stock opponent on fire is listed in brackets; some vehicles are never damaged enough to be set on fire prior to the final shell that destroys them.
Note: Shots to Kill does not take into account reload times, shell velocities, or other vehicle mitigations such as fire suppression, extra armor, or nanite repair systems. The values should be used as a rough indication only when comparing between turrets.

Ribbons and Medals
With any Lightning turret, it is possible to get both Ribbons and Medals. Each Ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with a Lightning turret. Medals relate to how many overall kills you have with the Lightning turret.
Ribbons
Ribbon | Icon | Requirements |
L100 Python AP Service Ribbon | 10 kills. |
Medals
Medal | Icon | Requirement | Award |
---|---|---|---|
No Medal | 0 kills | N/A | |
Copper Medal | 10 kills | 2 | |
Silver Medal | 60 kills | 10 | |
Gold Medal | 160 kills | 20 | |
Auraxium Medal | 1,160 kills | 200 |
History
- Game Update Number 8
- A new resist type has been created for AP tanks rounds (and a few other weapons). Tanks have been given a vulnerability to this resist type. This makes these weapons nearly as effective as they were before the above armor increases.
- Lightning L100 Python AP included.
