The V26 Maelstrom serves as the Scythe's close-range nose cannon option. Similar to the TR M18 Rotary and NC Vortek Rotary, the Maelstrom sacrifices power at range and damage-per-magazine in exchange for raw damage-per-second, dealing the most damage of its fighter's respective nose cannon choices.
Compared to the Saron Laser Cannon, the V26 Maelstrom sacrifices 22 rounds in the magazine deals 13 less damage-per-shot at its minimum damage range which is also 100 meters closer, has a muzzle velocity 100m/s slower, and has a cone-of-fire 0.2 degrees larger. In exchange, the V26 Maelstrom fires at a substantial 125 RPM faster and deals an extra 15 damage-per-shot within the weapon's maximum damage range, as well as reloading 0.8 seconds faster.
It is possible to get both Ribbons and Medals for using the Maelstrom Turbo Laser. Each Ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with a Maelstrom Turbo Laser. Medals relate to how many overall kills you have with the Maelstrom Turbo Laser.

Trivia[]
Initially named "Hailstorm Turbo Laser", the Maelstrom was renamed due to its name conflicting with the Terran PDW-16 Hailstorm. The new name was chosen in honour of Maelstrome26, a community member responsible for the PS2Alerts website.[1].
