The G30 Walker is a gunner weapon available to main battle tanks, among other vehicles. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.
The G30 Walker is a fast-firing anti-air machine gun, sacrificing a good chunk of power against ground targets in exchange for exceptionally high velocity and excellent damage against air targets. Unlike most dedicated anti-air weapons, the Walker has no type of proximity fusing or lock-on mechanic built into it, requiring gunners to directly hit the target.
Compared to its brother, the G40-F Ranger, the G30 Walker demands considerably higher skill out of the user, even with its incredibly high velocity, thanks to not having access to the highly generous proximity fuse of the Ranger. In exchange, however, the Walker has higher damage output against all targets than the Ranger, particularly against larger aircraft, and the Walker can be feasibly used against softer ground targets, a feat the Ranger's cone-of-fire and poor direct damage makes nigh-impossible.
Just like the Ranger, the Walker is unable to look below level, thus is unable to target anything below the vehicle. This can be somewhat circumvented by using slopes to tilt the vehicle, however.
Unlike most similar equipment, gunner weapons produced by Nanite Systems used atop main battle tanks are empire-specific, thus purchases made with Daybreak Cash only allow the item to be used on other characters of the same faction.
The Walker and all its variants were somewhat overlooked, as we had originally intended to eliminate the resistance type altogether. Instead of doing that, we're going to hold onto the resistance type for increased design flexibility, and take another pass at where the weapon lines up. MBT/Harasser/ANT versions of this weapon have had their falloff damage reduced, while Liberator, Galaxy, and Sunderer versions remain the same.
Dev Note: This buff puts the Sunderer's Walker anti-air weapon's refire rate in line with the MBT/Harasser/ANT variants, while still having a shorter falloff. This, alongside the Ranger changes below, should make the Walker a more considered choice within the current Ranger meta.
The reload speed certification lines for top guns, air vehicle non-nosegun (and non-bellygun) weapons have been standardized at 10/14/17/19/20% reload speed.
