Drifter Jump Jets are an ability available to the Light Assault. They are unlocked and upgraded using Certification Points.
While active, Drifter Jump Jets output a small amount of thrust, enough to maintain altitude and slowly propel the user vertically in the direction of their facing at an approximate climb rate of 1.5 meters per second. If the Light Assault uses their movement keys while mid-air, they will move in the direction of choice at the expense of a loss of vertical thrust, causing the trooper to slowly lose altitude as they move.
The Drifter's fuel tanks have a capacity of 3000 fuel, and recharge between 250 and 500 fuel per second when not in use, based on the rank of the ability, with a 2000ms (2 second) delay incurred before recharging begins if the tank is emptied. Using the jets immediately consumes 100 fuel before burning between 193.33 and 96.66 fuel per second, based on the rank of the ability.
In simple terms, this means that Drifter jets can be used for up to 15 seconds wtih a full tank, increased up to 30 seconds at rank 5, and take up to 12 seconds to recharge, decreased to 6 seconds at rank 5.
To activate this ability, press and hold the Jump hotkey (Spacebar by default) whilst airborne. Holding the key will provide continuous thrust until fuel runs out or the key is released.
