When activated, decoy flares are immediately deployed behind the vehicle and any lock-on missiles in flight towards the aircraft will immediately lose their target. In addition, for the next 8 seconds subsequent lock-on attempts will be impossible, resulting in no lock-on marker appearing if attempted.
Decoy Flares only defeat missiles and prevent lock-on attempts on the dispensing aircraft, and will not protect any other vehicle. Decoy Flares will also prevent locks from being acquired by proximity-based missiles like those fired from the T2 Striker, Coyote Missiles, and the Hyena Missile Launcher. There is no limit on the amount of missiles a single set of flares can defeat.

Dev Note: The cooldown adjustments are geared toward helping newer players make use of this ability without requiring the later levels of the ability. The duration increase provides some additional usefulness in air combat, and while fleeing hostile territory, without being so much of an increase that A2G vehicles get free reign on infantry combat areas.
