The Chainblade is the default Melee Weapon  for infantry of the Terran Republic, excluding MAX units (who "punch" as a melee attack).

All three faction's default melee weapons have the same characteristics, and are used by pressing the 'Quick Knife' key (default middle-mouse button).

Knife Ribbons and Medals

With any knife, it is possible to get Ribbons and Medals. Each Ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with a knife. Medals relate to how many overall kills you have with the knife.
