The CAS30 Tank Buster armor piercing rounds are highly effective against tanks.
The CAS30 Tank Buster has also the highest DPS against vehicles.
The Tank Buster fires two shots at a time, giving it a more accurate RoF of 1200. The slow moving shells are difficult to use against enemy aircraft but devastating against tanks and - with a little practice - enemy MAX units. With practice, fighting enemy Liberators and Galaxies can be done, but enemy fighter aircraft are best left to the belly and tail gunners.
The Tank Buster can be primarily used for two playstyles:
- Hit-and-run: The Tank Buster is able to kill any full-health tank in a single clip if most shots land in the rear of the tank (particularly with magazine size upgrades). This requires Liberators to fly low, exposing themselves to enemy tank shells. Therefore, it is advised that the Liberator flies around the enemy tank undetected, swoops in behind the tank, unleashes the CAS30 and retreats quickly.
- Belly gun assist damage: The Tank Buster is not the only gun on a Liberator, and flying with a crew is the most effective way to use the Liberator. The Tank Buster is capable of doing an incredible amounts of damage in a very short amount of time, however, the reload time bottlenecks the amount of damage the Liberator can deal. All four belly guns are also very powerful and have the advantage of not requiring the entire aircraft to point towards the target. With proper coordination and practice, the pilot can fire the Tank Buster while the belly gun reloads and vice versa - this optimises the damage output of the Liberator.
